The Technology Transfer Office strives to promote innovation and entrepreneurship to the HKU community.  We have engaged in various entrepreneurship activities including Entrepreneurship Academy, DreamCatchers, DreamCatchers MedTech Hackathon, HKU startup weekend and other workshops.

With the launch of the Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities at HKU (TSSSU@HKU) in 2014/15, there is a growing trend of new technology start-up companies formed by HKU researchers to commercialize their research outcomes.   These start-ups have the potential to create impact on society when their new products based on HKU technologies are successfully launched to the market in the coming years.   For more information about the TSSSU@HKU, please visit:

iDendron, HKU Innovation & Entrepreneurship Hub, was launched in 2017 with the aim of nurturing entrepreneurial and innovative spirit on campus, incubating HKU early-stage startups, establishing interdisciplinary cooperation and engaging the community to support human endeavors and society developments. Being an enabling partner for entrepreneurs and innovators, Over 30 HKU students and alumni startup teams are based at iDendron and various events, workshops and sharing have been organized to support the growth of our startups and engage the community.

As the signature program of iDendron, DreamCatchers was first launched in 2015 with the programs of DreamCatchers 100K Seed Fund, DreamCatchers MedTech Hackathon and Entrepreneurship Academy
