InnoTech Expo 2018

The InnoTech Expo 2018 was held from 23 September to 2 October 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This event was organized by Our Hong Kong Foundation and HKU was one of the Academic Partners.  The theme for this year is ‘Drive Innovation, Follow the Past and Herald the Future’ under the three topics of “Industry”, “Agriculture” and “Healthcare”.  There were over 160 exhibits ranging from ancient China to modern progress in science and technology as well as latest scientific research projects in Hong Kong.  

At the "Best of Hong Kong Pavilion (香港之光)", HKU showcased the invention, “Development and Applications of Next Generation Histology for 3D Interrogation of Human Brain” (Inventors:  Professor WU Wutian and Mr LAI Hei Ming, School of Biomedical Sciences).  This invention received the Gold Medal at the 46th edition of The International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva 2018 and the 1st Prize from innovation category (Life Science) at the “Challenge Cup” National Competition Hong Kong Regional Final of the Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition 2017.

Dr Wilton Fok, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, was invited to host the talk on “How to become the master of the future robot如何成為未來機器人的主人” for the Science & Tech seminar series (科普講座).  During the seminar, Dr Fok introduced the important role of Robotic Technologies, especially in the areas of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, and how Robotic Technologies can be applied to our daily life.   This seminar was well received by the high school students and teachers.
